The successful candidate will manage the provision of aircraft maintenance throughout a region of Emirates Airlines network excluding Dubai (stations plus alternates), ensuring aircraft maintenance is carried out by EK manned stations or third party suppliers to international and EK standards in a cost effective manner that meets operational and customer requirements both for EK and third party customers.
Establishes the business need for maintenance provision at each of the outstations based on factors such as its strategic position, importance of routes and onward flight operations. Decides upon and formulates a business case for the stations maintenance strategy taking into account potential third party revenue, flight crew duty limitation and layover time.
Decides the optimum method of maintenance support taking into account existing facilities and services availability, costs and quality of available services, EK expansion plans. Available options are contracted in services, EK own manned service, Engineer on board. Must have a strong leadership qualities to be able to escalate operational and financial matter to contractor’s senior and quality management and find a prompt resolutions to issues as they arise.
Establishes and decides on the level of provisions for each station (aircraft spares, tools and equipment) and instructs materials management to supply in order to maximise the cost efficiencies of EK Engineering’s stock. The level and type of spares is decided on by taking into account the risk of un-serviceability vs. cost of spares. Factors include station accessibility, maintenance opportunities, usage rates, reliability, third party/other carrier’s spares and equipment level.
Where possible, liaises with Finance and the local BFMs in the formulation of contracts with other carriers to provide a maintenance service, a revenue stream to EK where EK has its own maintenance resources available. Provides financial guidance to the outstations through budget formulation of each station by agreement with the Station Maintenance Manger (SMM) in order to control operational and financial efficiency
Manages the performance of EK manned stations based on quality of service, on time departure, revenue from third party customers and business development, productivity measures and standard audits. Assists and supports staff where necessary on a 24 hour call basis where specialist advice and input is required. Must update Engineering senior management of any adverse trends taking into account political, demographical and social factors impacting wellbeing of staff at manned stations
Manages the performance of agency services by agreeing a set of standards with suppliers, through the implementation of contract, Service Level Agreements (SLA) and the Outstations procedures. Agrees and ensures plans for the training and provision of qualified staff to meet the needs of the EK business and operations. This includes fleet changes, network/frequency changes, new stations, new or changed routes.
Must liaise with HR, Legal and Insurance departments to ensure full awareness of legal system and labour laws of countries where EK operate in. They must consult with them as issues arise.
Ensures a quality and business service in conjunction with EK Quality Assurance to provide and satisfy company, national and regulatory requirements.
Ensure close and dedicated liaison with Maintenance Control in managing and controlling Aircraft On Ground (AOG) events.
