Digital is disrupting the world; it is changing everything about how consumer goods companies go to market. Unilever has been at the front of the media revolutions in print advertising in the 1890s, in Radio in the 1930s and in TV in the 1960s. Now we intend to be at the front of the digital revolution within R&D and Disrupt through Digital by 2020.

Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is the way Unilever does R&D. Creativity and discipline are required to help further unlock the power of PLM with its connected tools in the digital workbench and drive step-change productivity improvements and growth.

We are recruiting a PLM Analyst / Assistant Manager to support the development of new information technology capabilities in R&D and to ensure that the technical solutions successfully meet the needs of the business. The role is an exciting opportunity to develop new tools as part of the integrated digital workbench and is pivotal for the delivery of Unilever R&D’s transformational Disrupt through Digital strategy.

Role description:

Work with PLM Product Managers and Product Owners in Digital R&D, and with global teams from across the Unilever business functions, to drive improvements within PLM and across the digital workbench.

Liaise with Unilever Subject Matter Experts (SME) to determine content and priority of changes to the applications, define business requirements and impact of change in context of end-to-end R&D processes.

Proactively developing proposals to solve executional pain-points and solve problems.

Liaise with external partners and vendors throughout the change lifecycle, to design, build, test and deploy changes to the toolset as part of enhancing the capability.

Validate technical solutions against their design intent and log incidents where discrepancies arise.

Working as part of a wider design team to ensure the tools are well connected in the digital workbench (seamless user interface).

Support user groups within the Unilever business with usability of the product development tools

Liaise with, and manage stakeholders, across Communities of Practice (CoP) in R&D and key contacts in Enterprise Technical Services (ETS) and geography IT.

Demonstrate flexibility for additional tasks that may be required as part of the Project, including change management, training, communication and engagement.

Skills/ Experience/ Qualifications:

Broad technical understanding of R&D processes in formulation and product development.

Business process analysis, definition and design.

Proven track record in working with cross-cultural and cross-functional teams.

Proven consumer & customer focus: proven track record in understanding and delivering to consumer or customer requirements.

Proven track record in working with 3rd parties and suppliers.

IT system design and deploy experience are preferred.
