Workplace and Travel Services (WTS) has driven significant change over the past 8 years developing the strategy and moving the delivery of employee services from being primarily within each local site and geography to be a globally integrated service line within Enterprise & Technology Solutions (ETS).
As this change is embedded, there is still a requirement to deliver change and a great employee experience without disruption to everyday operations. Looking forward, WTS is looking to re-position itself from a provider of services to a provider of experiences – the Employee Experience will be at the heart of the agenda focussed on providing an integrated and seamless experience to staff and visitors.
Travel & Fleet Services is globally run out of the Workplace & Travel Services family as stand-alone business line. Working closely with business partners in Procurement and Finance, this very specialized business function balances employee needs and service requirements with corporate and financial goals and provides travellers a smooth, efficient travel process in order to reach the company’s business objectives whilst balancing the cost of the total trip, the meeting or the lease / buy for Fleet. Travel & Fleet Services ensures cost tracking and control, facilitates adherence to corporate travel and fleet policies, realizes savings through negotiated discounts and serves as a valuable information centre for employees and managers. While the monetary benefits of a managed travel program to a company’s bottom line are clear, there are also valuable strategic, non-monetary benefits that may be less visible, involving to ensure travel is both safe and productive. During times of national, corporate, or personal crisis, Travel & Fleet Services and its preferred partners together with internal Safety & Security, are crucial to reducing the risk for the company and its travelers through employee tracking and emergency assistance. Lately, also Fleet Services and Meetings & Events have been integrated into the Travel & Fleet Services portfolio.
Main purpose of job:

The Global Travel Services Manager works very closely with (and reports directly to) the Global Travel Services Director and is responsible for the execution of all travel service initiatives and strategies in the Unilever regions. The goal is to meet objectives in cost, quality and service levels. The incumbent of this role will be responsible for the Strategy, framework, development and management of the regional corporate travel program encompassing regional travel supplier contract monitoring, compliance to the policy, implementation/coordination of process improvements, reporting and the management of all Regional Travel Leads. The Global Travel Manager’s mission it to ensure that Unilever employees are able to receive a high level of customer service throughout their entire travel experience from booking of tickets through turning in their rental car and coming back to the office. Concurrently, the Global Travel Manager will ensure that Unilever benefits from competitive rates from all travel providers and that the Travel programs are run in a cost effective manner.
Key requirement is an individual who has good knowledge in the Transient Travel / Corporate Business Travel Industry, who is able to set-out a global Travel Strategy & Framework (in this role the person will be responsible to manage the global Travel Programme, across 90+ markets, around 130M spend), knows everything about Airlines, Travel Management Agency’s, Hotels, MICE.

Develop, maintain, and administer Global Travel Policy allowing for cultural and regional differences with cross functional coordination as needed
Monitor travel policy compliance and provide strategies to increase compliance
Complete Global Travel Agency implementation or consolidation including program management, review, and analysis
Oversight of the travel management company(ies) including all operational issues, SLA’s, management reporting systems, and adherence to policy
Develop, implement and manage all travel vendor relationships and programs (agency, air, hotel) ensuring compliance to service level agreements
Must have strong ability to use various automated travel technology tools including travel management reporting tools and self- booking tools
Lead a global team to design, review, analyze, select, and implement the global strategies accordingly in the regions
Identify savings opportunities and service enhancements, initiate process improvements and deployment of benchmarking-generated best practices
Benchmark, analyze, monitor, and report on travel expenditures and compliance
Provide monthly and quarterly reports for corporate travel expenditures in close collaboration with the Reporting Lead
Work with Security on Duty of Care issues and other incidents relating to business travel
Develop strong internal working relationships with all departments especially Finance, Procurement, Executive Admins, IT and all Unilever countries managed in the global travel program
Provides strategic and tactical input to the development of global travel policy and procedures
Ensure travel policies, procedures, and service standards are consistently in use across all sites and in all countries
Act as the key operational contact for the Global Travel Management Company and the Global Business Lead
Create and support the Global Travel Services communication, marketing and training initiatives, as well as business plan development and execution
Ensure global business continuity plans are up to date and tested
Lead initiatives related to global travel services including online booking tools and profile management systems and process enhancements, service standard reviews, procedure updates, acquisition integration, and new site start-ups
Closely work with the Service Delivery organization to implement and manage all global initiatives
Lead or participate in departmental / special projects as required
Lead or participate in Projects and Committees: Global Travel Management Company RFP, disaster recovery committees, updates to travel website, development of preferred vendor leakage initiatives, development and administration of travel surveys
Ability to manage and maintain preferred supplier relationships, monitoring performance and analysing category spend, and ability to connect with business leaders in an effort to define and strategically leverage spending to include proactive focus on major spend initiatives
Propose and drive opportunities for optimal cost savings through analysis of current spend and external category analysis and benchmarking
Design and implement travel training/seminars for travelers and travel arrangers and adapt to local needs.
